Necessity Is The Mother of Invention
I started Ocean SF weeks before my husband died of sudden heart attack. I was in such shock that the company and all of the things I had planned came to a screeching halt. I immediately turned ALL my attention to my 15 and 17 year old daughters, and later in working three jobs to keep my utilities paid. During that time Ocean SF was like a guiding light that reminded me that I had dreams and things that I wanted to do with my own life. Ocean SF kept me focused and taught me how to never, no matter what, give up on your dreams. I kept the brand alive during that crisis and then Covid-19. Thank goodness I did as the brand is thriving and entering its fifth year.
Having a passion for the health of our environment and oceans, I wanted a sustainable alternative to the current options in outdoor sports apparel, which is, unfortunately, an industry dominated by polyester.
Ocean SF was born out of the inspiration and belief that our clothes can and should be comfortable and beautifully designed, without having a negative impact on our environment.
Our Mission
Microplastic pollution is a big deal. Every day tiny microplastic particles are shed from our clothes made from synthetic material, like polyester. Water treatment plants are not able to filter all microplastic fibers, causing our oceans and drinking water to become more polluted with plastic. Plus, in producing plastic fibers for polyester clothes, it’s supporting the oil industry which, you know, is casually destroying earth.
