Ocean SF and Rolex

I started sailing late in life when my kids were teenagers. It had always been on my bucket list, and one day I thought, if not now, then when? So, I signed up for an introduction to sailing class at the then OCSC Sailing School in Berkeley. Of course, the night before, I was at a Taylor Swift concert with a group of teenage girls and stayed out until 3 a.m. I woke up the next morning and scrambled to the dock, tired and dehydrated, without time for more than an espresso. If you are a sailor, you know how this one ends. Let’s just say I was not “hooked” by this first experience.

However, the sailing school was relentless in calling me and offering me a second chance. They coached me on what to wear, what to eat, and how to hydrate. I followed directions and took Dramamine the two nights before the day I was scheduled, drank a gallon of water, and had a full breakfast. The second time, I was hooked and signed up to learn to sail and became a certified sailor.

Now, my sailing apparel company is the sustainability partner for the Rolex Big Boat Series. We are excited to participate next week and will keep you posted on the races and details.

Love and blessings to all.
