When I first moved to Lamorinda someone described the three towns; Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda as Strawberry, Vanilla and Chocolate. Each has its own unique personality and flavor.
For a time, Orinda seamed to be the place to live, as it was closer to the city and thus the wider Universe, then it felt like Lafayette held sway, for the adorable downtown and excellent restaurants, like Metro and Postino. Most recently Moraga, has become desirable for its parks and tidy neighborhoods, with sidewalks and bicycle lanes, for the kids to use to and from school.
Regardless, which town you live in, they all go together and spill into one another, and become interchangeable due to schools, swim clubs and sports teams that pull from each town.
For me, I love my church in Orinda, and sat behind the Tasker Family, of Orinda, this morning. We met in preschool, and we have been guests to their family ranch in Montana and their home in Squaw Valley, sharing many happy memories as our children grew. It’s comforting to see them here and sitting roughly in the same place they always sit.
After church, I met my friend of many years for breakfast.
I love having deep roots, and enduring friendships, that last a life time.
Love and blessings to all.
