The Gap Between Theory and Execution

As we head into autumn, I am seeking new projects, new challenges, and new friends, so I am expanding my leadership practice in San Francisco and in person.

In organizations that experience rapid growth, they eventually hit the same friction point: the gap between knowing what leadership is and knowing how to execute it under pressure.

Whether I am observing executive teams in high-stakes technology environments or guiding young managers taking their first steps, leadership is rarely about grand speeches. It is built in the daily, unglamorous mechanics—how feedback is delivered, how decisions are delegated, and how alignment is maintained when velocity increases.

For the past two years, I have served as a Leadership Development Advisor for TSMC, conducting 360 assessments and building custom leadership development plans.

Alongside this, I run Ocean SF, where our internship program functions as a hands-on leadership incubator. There, I teach core management concepts and give emerging talent real-world opportunities to manage others and pull actual operational levers for a sustainable sailing apparel brand.

Combining this practical business execution with my background teaching leadership at UC Berkeley, I help founders and executives build management systems that align scaling teams.

I am expanding my leadership advisory practice in San Francisco and taking on new clients. If your executive team is navigating rapid growth or scaling middle management, contact me at sydney@oceansf.co
